Employers Needed - Work Experience 2026

Over the next few weeks, I will be approaching employers, with the aim to secure one-week work experience / work placements for youth, aged 16–24.

I am also encouraging employers to pay £150 to each young person, at the end of their placement week, as an incentive.

Benefits for Youth
• Gain practical workplace experience.
• Develop employability skills.
• Build confidence and independence.
• Explore different career options and gain career direction.
• Strengthen your CV for Apprenticeship applications or future jobs.
• Stay engaged, productive and motivated during the summer holidays.

Benefits for Employers

• Opportunity to support and develop local young talent.
• Additional support with day-to-day tasks and projects.
• Opportunity to identify potential future employees and apprentices.
• Positive promotion of the organisation as a supporter of youth development.

Here are the answers to some of the questions we get asked most often.

1. How many days a week will I work?

Five days a week, from Monday to Friday. It can be adjusted for SEN Learners.

2. Will I have an interview?

Yes, but don't worry—it's just an informal interview. This gives you the opportunity to meet the employer, learn more about the placement and ask any questions you may have.

3. Is it full-time or part-time hours?

You'll work 7 hours per day, including a lunch break.

4. When will I get paid?

You'll receive your payment on the final day of your work experience placement.

5. What month does it start?

All placements take place during August.

6. Can I use the Employer as a work reference when I get a real job or Apprenticeship?

Yes and it's always nice to check with them too.
