Summer Work Experience - 2 Weeks (18 - 21yrs old)

What are the benefits?

  • Some youth would like to earn money and save it for an important purpose.
  • Preparation for Apprenticeships is another benefit.
  • Getting some experience to put on a CV.
  • Keeps youth focused, with a sense of purpose.( Boredom sometimes pushes youth to negative actions, that have a lasting impact in their life).

Elena has worked with 16 – 24s including Youth with challenging backgrounds and helped them secure Work experience / internships and Apprenticeships. Via Employability Workshops. In addition, mentoring and supporting with Mental Health to keep them focused, no matter the personal challenges going on in their lives.

Step 1 - Getting to know you

This involves:

1) An online or face to face meeting to discuss the type of  job roles you will consider and the location.

2) Finding out your skills  and qualities.

3 Simple Steps  

Step 2 - Company Contact

The company will be informed and asked for a day/dates  they can interview  you. (Informal Chat)At the short Interview, You will also discuss the date and  also duration of work experience, to see if it suits you. (You will have a Mock interview, before your Interview day to prepare).

Benefits of the Interview

  • It gives you an opportunity to meet the Employer.
  • Observe the environment you will be working, as well as ask relevant questions.
  • After the interview, if you and the Employer are comfortable to go ahead, the paperwork will be organised. 

The work experience date will be set. It is usually for 2 weeks – Monday to Thursday

Elena will contact you regularly to check how you are progressing and if you need any support.

Step 3 - Feedback

After  the Work Experience, you will receive feedback from your Employer and also a Work Reference letter, which can accompany your CV for any future job roles you apply for, including Apprenticeships.

Also, update or create your CV with the Job Role / duties etc you carried out during work experience.

Your feedback is also important and will be shared with the Employer.
